DKN Hotels Receives Nomination for 2011 OCBJ Business Award
We are extremely grateful to announce DKN Hotels' nomination for the 12th Family Owned Business Awards, an annual event hosted and organized by the Orange County Business Journal.
The award is presented in association with the California State University Fullerton's Family Business Council to honor outstanding family-run businesses based in Orange County, CA. Winners will be announced on November 30, 2011.
DKN Hotels has announced the sale of the 255-room Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites in Anaheim, California.
Rod Apodaca and Bob Kaplan from the Newport Beach office of CBRE Hotels represented DKN Hotels in this transaction. The buyer was Urban Commons Anaheim, LLC, and the property will be managed by Brighton Management under a new franchise license with Holiday Inn.
The Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Anaheim was originally built in 1978 and has recently undergone an extensive renovation, which was completed in 2009. The full service hotel, located adjacent to the Disneyland® Theme Parks, features the Onyx Restaurant and Bar, an outdoor pool, and 3,500 square feet of meeting and banquet space.
"This sale was an example of the pent-up demand for quality mid-market product in Southern California. Investors have turned a portion of their attention to this non-distressed segment of the market because of the relatively non-existence of ‘well located' distressed hotel assets and their inability to compete against the remarkably low cap rates being paid by the REIT's for institutionally branded properties.", says Bob Kaplan of CBRE Hotels.

Renovation of the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Anaheim Completed!
Renovated in September of 2009 at a cost of just under $7 Million, this hotel exhibits a fun and modern art deco ambiance suitable for both business travelers and families alike. Successful Renovation and Re-Branding of the Holiday Inn Express San Clemente.
Under the management of DKN Hotels, renovation of the hotel was completed in July of 2009 at a cost of just under $4 Million. Formerly known as the "Country Plaza Inn San Clemente", the newly re-modeled and re-branded Holiday Inn Express San Clemente successfully manages to combine traditional Spanish mission-style architecture with modern amenities.
The changes haven't gone unnoticed. Says Alice, a guest from Southern California:
"I stayed here a few years ago and it was so-so then. But it appears they have completely renovated it. The flooring looked brand new; everything in the room was beautifully decorated, clean, and new. The staff were all very courteous and went out of their way to help. For the low price we paid, I got a lot more than I expected."

Construction of the Hilton Garden Inn San Bernardino Completed!
The hotel broke ground in May 2008 and completed construction in October 2009, at a cost of just over $18 Million. The hotel boasts a breathtaking lobby and a contemporary and elegant design. This, along with its convenient location in the heart of the San Bernardino business district, makes it a top pick for business and leisure travellers alike.
The Hilton Garden Inn San Bernardino's Grand Opening Ceremony was a huge success. Says Wendy Rosales, Manager of Opening at Hilton Worldwide:
