On 11/30 Executive Chef Jorge Espinosa and Director of Catering Nicole Peters, both from The Pierpont Inn, were invited in as guest speakers for the Ventura High School Advanced Culinary and Hospitality Class. They spent 2 hours with Senior students discussing the various culinary and hospitality careers that are available to them as they prepare to graduate. Chef even did a cooking demonstration and plating contest with the students which gave the students practice using their skills in a real world context. It was a wonderful experience and the team had a lot of fun. The Pierpont Team was connected through VC Innovates (http://vcinnovates.org/) which is a local nonprofit that develops Career and Technical Education for local high schools and community colleges. Although this was the first of the team’s collaboration with VC Innovates, they see themselves maintaining and even growing this relationship as they increase their outreach to the community. #workingatDKN
